||I will never ask you to leave your jewelry. My procedure is to carefully examine your jewelry and take the photographs while you wait, so we must work together by appointment. You will be free to ask any questions or make any input you think is appropriate. Prior documents or appraisals can be useful but are not required. My fee schedule is $90 for the first article and $60 for each additional item. I am required under ethical rules maintained by the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers to create a plotting diagram for all diamonds which are 1 carat or larger--there will be an additional charge of $15 for each diagram. (This fee can be waived if you provide a lab report which includes a plotting diagram.) Appraisals are a non-taxable service in Tennessee. Since I am a small business, I am prepared to accept only cash or checks for payment, which is due at the end of the examination.

About Jewelry Appraisals
I have been employed as a salesman, manager, buyer, designer and/or appraiser in the retail jewelry business since April 1981. I graduated from Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt University with a B.A. in History and earned the Graduate Gemologist Diploma from the Gemological Institute of America in 1997. My gemological training has been furthered by GIA-conducted advanced gemology classes including “Detecting Synthetic Diamonds†and “Pearl Grading.†Through continuing education, examination and peer review of my work, I have become a Certified Member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. In March 2007 I completed classroom training and testing which earned the designation Certified Insurance Appraiser™ by the Jewelry Insurance Appraisal Institute; I am also currently serving as President of the Middle Tennessee chapter of the GIA Alumni Association. Since November 1999, I have worked full-time as an independent jewelry appraiser.
